Where will my student be staying during the event?
During The LIFT Tour weekend our students are divided into small groups based on grade and gender… this usually means they will be paired with the same small group that they are in on a regular basis. Each small group stays at a host home on Friday and Saturday night. A “host home” is a family within TheMET Church that has opened their home and hosts a small group of students and their leaders. Everyone living in the host home that is over the age of 18-years-old has undergone a background check and child safety training. Students will sleep in a common area of the house such as a living room or game room so make sure your student packs a pillow, blanket or sleeping bag, etc…
Who is leading my student during The LIFT Tour?
During The LIFT Tour your student will be paired with a small group based on grade and gender. Each small group will be lead by 1-2 adult leaders. A majority of our adult leaders will be the student’s regular small group leaders. Each small group leader has undergone a background check and child safety training.
How will my student be transported between the host home and church during The LIFT Tour?
Student small groups are transported by their small group leaders, host home family, and assisting drivers through out the weekend. Each student is required to wear a seatbelt in the vehicles at all times. All volunteers interacting with the students in any capacity have undergone a background check and child safety training.
What if my student has an event during the course of the LIFT that they need to go to?
If your student has a game, contest or other prior commitment during the course of LIFT Tour they are able to leave and then return to their group after their commitment is done. Please communicate with your student’s group leader to make plans for your student to be picked up and dropped off from either the host home or church. If your student is old enough to drive they are able to drive themselves to and from their extracurricular commitment. Please communicate with your student’s group leader with your approval for your student to drive to and from the location of their activity.
What if my student takes medication?
If your student is on medication please don’t hesitate to send their medication with them to LIFT Tour. We want each student to get the most out of the weekend, feel their best, and be able to focus. Upon arrival for check-in on Friday evening there will be a “Medication” table. Please stop by the table, fill out the short form, and place the form and medication in the provided bag. Give the bag to your student’s group leader at luggage drop off. The group leader will be responsible for making sure your student is taking their medications.
Does my student need to bring extra money for this event?
Your student is able to bring extra money to this event. However, our volunteers are not responsible for managing or keeping up with the money your student brings. The LIFT Tour and the band will have a merchandise shop where students can purchase T-Shirts, books, and other resources through out the weekend. Cash and credit card are accepted forms of payment. There will also be a limited amount of free time for each group to do with what they please. If the group chooses to do an activity that costs money, the student needs to bring that money with them as that is an extra cost not covered by the registration fee. If your student’s group is participating in an activity that costs extra you will find out no later than February 6th.
When will we know what group my student is in?
We will host a parent information meeting on Wednesday, February 6th at 8:15PM immediately following The MIX. At this meeting we will go over the packing list, schedule, weekend guidelines, and announce student group, leader, and host home pairings. This meeting is incredibly important and helpful and allows you to meet the adults who will be leading your student!
What if my student has special dietary needs?
If your student requires special dietary needs (i.e. gluten free, dairy free, peanut allergies) please make sure to note that on their registration form. At meal times we will do our best to provide an alternative option for your student should the planned meal conflict with their dietary needs.
