“THE TALK” March 20th – April 10th
We live in a sex crazed culture. Every song is singing about it. Every movie is talking about it. It’s on TV, Netflix, Twitter, Snapchat – it’s everywhere!
With sexuality so prevalent and pervasive in our culture, we believe it best for our students, your children, to truly understand what God says about sex. We are going to speak up, talk about a culturally charged topic, and do our best to point students and their understanding to God’s ways, God’s standards, and God’s design for sex. We’re having THE TALK – starting in late March.
**ALL 6th-7th grade students will be in a SEPARATE AGE-APPROPRIATE conversation. They will discuss similar subjects, but there will be a bit less depth and more tangible conversations that can connect on their level.**
March 20th kicks off a 4-week series – THE TALK. The subject matter of each week is listed below, and we want you to be informed, aware, and equipped to be the primary discipler of your child as we tackle a topic that most shy away from addressing.
THE TALK SERIES (8th-12th):
MARCH 20th – We will talk about DATING. We will interview a few couples to talk about dating and how to RAISE our standards from “good” to God’s best.
MARCH 27th – We will talk about GOD’S DESIGN FOR SEX. We will begin with the fact that it was God’s idea, and quite honestly, God wants us to have great sex. BUT, we have two very real things that are working against us in this.
We will begin with the fact that it was God’s idea, and quite honestly, God wants us to have great sex. BUT, we have two very real things that are working against us in this.
- OUR SINFUL NATURE that is broken.
- A REAL enemy who has LIED to us about it.
**We will also address pornography in this talk.**
APRIL 3th – We will talk about SAME-SEX ATTRACTION. We will begin with questions our students face in their schools and other spheres of relationships. Questions like: Does the Bible say it is wrong? What do I do if I struggle with this? What do I do if my friend(s) struggle with this? To hear more specifics about what will be taught April 3rd surrounding this issue, please watch this message by J.D. Greear, pastor in North Carolina. Pastor Greear clearly answers these questions with the Bible as his standard and backdrop. We will be leveraging his content as our primary source for this evening:
APRIL 10th – We will talk about PURITY. We will focus on God’s redeeming POWER in and for all of us. We will discuss setting practical boundaries around dating, technology, and dress. We will discuss how purity of mind is essential to living out God’s best surrounding such a sensitive issue. We will also give our students practical resources helping them combat the sex crazed culture in which we live.
*The Gospel will be presented clearly with students being given an opportunity to respond!
Contact us with any further questions or concerns you might have, and again, thank you for allowing us to partner with you for the heart and habits of your students!
