Where Is God Moving?
Deut 1:8, “you have stayed long enough on this mountain.”
Usually when we see the Lord moving we want to hold on to this moment as long as possible. Our tendency is to try and re-create that movement of God and it is hard for us to move on. The Israelites where stuck in this place. God did an amazing thing when he brought an entire nation out of the bondage of Egyptian slavery. For forty years they would wander the desert heading for the promise land. Even in the trial of the desert, God did amazing things. He revealed himself to Moses on Mt Horeb (synonymous for Sinai). He gave them the law on Mt Horeb. He met them at Mt Horeb. That is wonderful. BUT it doesn’t mean that is the only way God wants to show up.
A similar story to this is also found inJohn 4. The woman at the well also speaks about worshipping God on a certain mountain. And what is Jesus’ reply? A time is coming and has now come when true worshippers will worship the Father in Spirit and truth. God is Spirit and those who worship him must worship in Spirit.
God is not confined to a space. He is not the God who repeats events. He is always doing a new thing. He is trying to take us to a promise land of our own. BUT, most of us (including me) are very comfortable on the mountain we’re on now. We don’t even want to ASK him what is next. I know that the promise land he has for me is amazing, but i also know it will require huge amounts of faith. I’d rather say, “I’m fine right here.” But the power of God, the blessings of obedience, the glory I can taste and see comes when I move. When I step out in faith. (OCEANS)
What mountain are you on right now?
Where is He calling you to go?
Deut 1:21 “see, the Lord your God has set the land before you. Go up, take possession, as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has told you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
Deut 1: 30 “The Lord your God who goes before you will himself fight for you, just as he did for you in Egypt before your eyes
